JULY 23, 2010 -- "Lost Saugatuck and Douglas
Paintings Rediscovered" will be shown and discussed at the
Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society "Tuesday Talk" on August 3 in
the Old School House Discovery Center, 130 Center Street, Douglas.
The one-hour program begins at 11 a.m.; admission is free and public
attendance is invited.
Presenter Ken Kutzel, retired teacher and Social
Studies department head at East Detroit Public Schools and now
resident of Douglas, chairs the Historical Society's art history
project, researching and cataloging the Society's growing art
collection. He has studied art history at Oakland University under
Charles Brownell and Wayne State University under Wayne Andrews.
Kutzel's talk focuses on his selection of 10
artworks not previously shown here, revealing the stories of how
they were found and brought "home", some bought online or in antique
malls, auctions and garage sales, some donated to the Society.
Audience participation is welcomed to enliven the discussion with
comments, questions and art from private collections.
This Tuesday Talk is sponsored by Douglas
resident and Society member Judy Oberholtzer.
Tuesday Talks with varying topics and sponsors
will continue throughout the summer, concluding August 31, in the
west exhibit room at The Old School
