Dan Sigler contemporary The Big Pavilion c. 2010 | found objects Notes: As a child, Dan Sigler was fascinated with Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys, so it’s not surprising his whimsical works of art are reminiscent of these bygone toys – sort of an adult version of an erector set. Rather new to the world of art, Sigler began creating his quirky pieces for personal use and as gifts. Only when interest in his pieces began to grow did he begin to take his hobby seriously Working with found items, Sigler creates objects intended to evoke memories of special events or past eras. This sculpture captures the magic and mystery of one of Saugatuck’s great icons, the Big Pavilion which was destroyed by fire in 1960. The retired attorney from Fort Wayne, Indiana and his wife, and fellow attorney, Sherie Hampshire, moved his studio to the Saugatuck area where Dan works on his sculptures. *adapted from a biography done for Good Goods, where Mr. Sigler had been selling his work.
